A quick hello, awesome readers!
So apparently BIC came out with a “Pen For Her” a few years ago and I wasn’t paying attention. Except that it wasn’t well received because it was too pink or too sexist or too WHAT ARE YOU THINKING, BIC and now it’s off the market, which means that we – the women who have always wanted a pen with our feminine needs in mind – have to return to using generic pens. Ugh. I KNOW.
Just in case you missed it too, here’s Ellen with her take on the BIC Pen For Her.
PS. I think I just cringed while writing this. But I wasn’t writing with my feminine pen so it may have just been a cramp in my fingers.
Too funny! So ridiculous that making something pink makes it a “female product.”
Mona! This just brightened my day. The thought of having something so blatantly ridiculous as this Bic For Her actually making it to market makes you wonder about who is making decisions at this “successful” company right? !? After reading your thoughts and watching Ellen, I feel strangely empowered by the potential of a world without unnecessary labels. Today is going to be a great day! Thank you for sharing your entertaining view of the world.
So glad I could help, Deb! Thanks for taking the time to comment 🙂
Ellen was hilarious! Can you imagine if the Bic company had just had a focus group of women it would have saved them a ton of money on launching, packaging and bad PR.
You’re right, Haralee. A focus group consisting of women would definitely have been a good idea.
There are all kinds of ridiculous posts and videos about the “feminine tax” on products that are both hilarious and horribly depressing.
So true, Veronica.
So stupid and lovely at the same time. p.s tweeted it out 🙂
Thanks, Kyla!
Oh, darn. A couple of years ago, someone posted a list of the most hysterical product reviews on Amazon. The “female” Bic was one of them. And now they are gone. Weeping – you know how us women tend to get emotional.
