It’s Monday, which means back to work for me after a long, overdue vacation. For 3 weeks.
Confession: I spent more hours during the last 21 days in front of my computer – writing – than I did doing vacation things (sometimes known as catching up on the laundry).
With that said, I did do SOME out of the routine activities that could fall under “vacation things”, including . . .
Falling in love with a puppy and bringing him home.
Spending a great week visiting family in Florida.
Swimming with the manatees. (Okay. I didn’t really swim with the manatees. But I did sit on the boat and watch others brave enough to swim with these giant sea cows.)
Eat too much (a definite vacation activity).
Rekindle my appreciation of wine and Mike’s Hard Lemonade. Because HEY! I was on VACATION.
The truth is that the day before my vacation started I remember thinking that coming back to the office was going to be hard. You would think that this would only make sense, right? Three long weeks away should be enough to turn off the hamster for at least a few hours – you would think.
Apparently sitting on a beach or opening up a cold one before noon on a Tuesday isn’t enough. In fact, if anything all that quasi-idle time only served as a trigger for the hamster to go into overdrive.
Just like this video sent to me by a dear friend (thanks, Kathryn!)
And if you don’t believe me about the sitting on the beach thing, here I am. Sitting on a pole next to the beach.
