Happy Friday, awesome Moxie-Dude readers!
I’m not going to lie to you. I don’t look forward to the Christmas season. For one thing it’s all about cooking, which just happens to be something that I’m not particularly good at. Want proof? Go here.
Also, there’s shopping involved.
Have I ever mentioned that shopping is my second least favourite thing to do in the entire world? Yup. It comes right after cooking.
Oh and then there’s the fact that Christmas occurs during the cold, winter months – my least favourite season.
Okay so I think it’s pretty safe to say that whoever invented Christmas hates me.
Regardless, I still have to suck it up and get her done and I have NO CLUE what to get my teenagers this year. It seems that the older they get, the harder it is to shop for them.
On the one hand my daughter is hard to shop for because GIRL. And my son, well he’s into things I can’t get my head around . . . like guns. (Relax, people. AIRSOFT guns. Although I’m still not sure how I feel about it. Half of me is like, “yayyy, he’s off the computer!” And the other half is, “WTW – guns?!!! How about a nice computer game?”)
Also, both my teens have made it pretty clear that they do NOT want to unwrap socks or underwear because “it’s embarrassing”. (Their words.)
Looks like I’m going to have to get creative this year.
My plans for this weekend? Get started on the shopping! Wish me luck!
What about you? Have you started your shopping yet?
PS. Any ideas for what I could get my teens would be a great help.
These days it’s not easy buying for kids. Save your sanity, give them gift cards. Then they can buy what they really want & are also limited as to the am’t they can spend.
Also I read your blog on cooking, I remember watching a certain teenager cooking some years ago, thank God she can write.
Gift cards are a great idea!!! And – Hey! You’re talking about me aren’t you?!!! You see? Some things don’t change 🙂
Good luck!!
I have 2 boys (12.5 and 15) and not a clue what to get them – the younger one has a list a mile long and the older has nothing!!! Personally I would be happy if we skipped presents and just went to the beach!
I’m with you! Let’s skip christmas and just have Thanksgiving again – so much easier and you’re still spending time together as a family. PS. My mom cooks the turkey, making it even easier 🙂
Mine are not easy either. Computer equipment, gift cards and my daughter wants a tea blending kit. ????? Shopping for them is definitely not fun anymore…wrapped gift cards aren’t terribly exciting.
I so hear you, Michelle. It’s not about the magic anymore. It’s about the “stuff”.
