Happy New Year, awesome readers!
If you read yesterday’s post you know that I was busy working on my book and that my goal was to finish writing it before midnight. Intentions are great, aren’t they? But I will say this: It was the best New Year’s Eve of my life! I was writing from my quiet bubble, lifting my hand from the keyboard only to take a sip of wine – It was divine. (And no. I’m not channelling Dr. Seuss. That rhyme was by accident.)
And then something happened. We’ll call it “alcohol-induced clarity”.
You see, there’s a part in my book where I’ve been struggling. We’ll call that part ”ALL OF IT”. And then at around 9:30 last night – right after I poured my third glass of Sauvignon – there was a “pop” in my mind and suddenly it all made sense. Coincidence? I think not!
With this new clarity I got to do three things:
One, I rewrote part of the middle; two, changed the title and, three . . . oh wait! You’re expecting me to say that I finished the first draft, aren’t you? Well, instead I’ve had to move my deadline to January 31st.
I’m good with it though because the path to “the end” is clearer and I have all these other projects that I’m eager to get to.
2014 is going to be awesome indeed!
Wine makes everything better/clearer!!
What kind of book are you writing? Glad you figured out some things last night – sounds like your new year is off to a great start!!
Thanks, Kim, it IS off to a great start! I’m actually working on two – the one with the deadline is a quasi-memoir for single moms 🙂
