Confusion: A case study

February 11, 2014 by Mona Andrei 2 Comments

Because Starbucks and Dropbox are EXACTLY the same thing.
Because Starbucks and Dropbox are EXACTLY the same thing.

Hey there, awesome readers!

Over the weekend I was at my mom’s who recently entered into the Millennium with WiFi. Since her big update, her biggest goal in life has been to be able to access her files from anywhere. And when I say anywhere, I mean from her desktop that she keeps in her second floor office and a laptop that she keeps on the main floor.

To help out with the stair dilemma, which anyone can see is the REAL issue here, I set her up with Dropbox. (If you don’t know what Dropbox is, think of a virtual file folder that you can access from any device and anywhere.)

The thing with technology and my mom is that somehow, somewhere it always leads to confusion – as demonstrated in the following conversation:

My mom: I don’t know why but I have two emails from the star box and I don’t know what they mean.

Me: What? Starbucks? They’re probably just promoting their coffee.

My mom: No, not StarBUCKS. Star BOX. You know, the box in the sky that you put on my computers.

Me: Oh you mean DROPBOX.

My mom: Yes. THAT.

Good Grief Charlie Brown.

We should really get our moms together. Just the other day my mom was telling me all about Angelina Joanne and her husband Brad Peach.
